Thesis Proposal

The following is a proposal of work to be completed for the second semester of Thesis coursework.

Thesis Proposal

As of January 22, 2007 the following is a revised proposal of work to be completed for the second semester of Thesis coursework. Only minor changes were made to proposed technical analyses.

1/22/07
1/22/07

Breadth Topic #1: Temporary Heat System

This breadth topic will be in the mechanical option. The majority of the exterior masonry work will be completed over the three coldest months in the location of the project. A temporary heating system will be developed to combat the cold weather for the masonry work as well as provide heat for the trades that will be working in the building during the winter months as well. Please refer to the final report for the full analysis of this breadth topic.

Breadth Topic # 2 : Precast Concrete Structure

The second breadth topic will review the structural system of Residence Hall 2.  A complete precast system will be researched and compared to the existing system of CMU load bearing walls and precast plank.  This breadth topic will also accelerate the schedule of the project in order for student occupancy for the fall semester of 2007 at the college. This will come with an added cost to the overall project though. Please refer to my final report for the complete breadth analysis.
