Thesis Research

Precast Concrete Safety:

Precast concrete safety is a topic that OSHA does not do a very decent job of addressing in their safety manual. This is a topic that directly applies to my thesis building because it is a block and plank structure. As part of my senior thesis I will be switching the structural system to a complete precast structure. My interest in this safety issue stems from an internship I had this past summer.

My research will be directed primarily towards those companies who have developed guidelines that go above and beyond the requirements of OSHA. I am interested to determine which safety guidelines the industry sees as those that need to be addressed by OSHA in greater detail. I would also like to determine how contractors have responded to safety restrictions that go above and beyond those required by OSHA.

If are interested in participating in this research or would be willing to offer assistance at a later date, please contact me at rch172@psu.edu. I will have further information posted throughout the remainder of the semester as well. If you would like morei nformation on my research, please do not hesitate to contact me. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from those who are interested. Thank you.
