Structural Concepts/Structural Existing Conditions Report (PDF)

Executive Summary (PDF)

The Structural Concepts/Structural Existing Conditions Report consists of a requirement to describe the physical existing conditions of the structure of Gateway Plaza including information relative to design concepts and required loading. It provides an overview of all the structural components of the building including: floor framing, structural slabs, lateral resisting systems, foundations, etc.

Pro-Con Study of Alternate Floor Systems (PDF)

Executive Summary (PDF)

The Pro-Con Study of Alternate Floor Systems is designed to look at the advantages and disadvantages associated with various floor systems. The report compares five different floor framing systems and the impact they have, both structurally and non-structurally, on the building. This study will take you through the brief design process of the following systems: a modified steel framing, composite steel joists, one-way concrete slab with beams and girders, one-way concrete pan joists, and pre-cast prestressed double tees. Through comparison, two of these floor framing systems were found to be feasible framing alternatives to the current design.

Lateral System Analysis and Confirmation Design (PDF)

Executive Summary (PDF)

The goal of this report is to take the lateral loads computed from Technical Assignment 1 and use them to analyze the lateral system of Gateway Plaza. Gateway Plaza's lateral system is a complex combination of moment frames and X- and chevron braced frames. In order to aide in the analysis of this system finite element analysis software, RAM Frame, was employed. The report includes:
