Jennifer Mers' Bio'

Jennifer is in her fifth and final year at The Pennsylvania State University and will obtain a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with a focus in Lighting/Electrical Design. Her passion for architecture and the sciences made AE a perfect match.

After her third year, she participated in the Sedi di Roma summer program where she earned her minor in architecture. The program gave her the opportunity to combine her love of travel and architecture. Again during her fourth year, Jennifer found herself studying abroad in Leeds, England introducing a new culture and experience to her life. While acclimating to the different learning style in England, she was able to join the LEEDS cricket team and the hiking club which satisfied her desire to participate in sports.

After studying abroad, she was able to continue her education with an internship in Seal Beach, CA for the summer of 2005. There she gained hands on experience while working side-by-side with a professional lighting designer at Fox & Fox Design. Her work was quite varied, ranging from parking garages to community centers to libraries.

In June of 2005 she won the Howard Brandston Lighting Design Competition and plans on attending the IES conference in New York City in January. After graduation she has plans on becoming a full time lighting designer.
