Technical Assignments

Technical Assignment 1 - 10.05.05
Executive Summary

This report contains a breakdown of the structural components of The Village at Waugh Chapel - Senior Living Facility III. Included are a description of the building's overall details and architecture, the codes and standards used to design the building, and calculations for the gravity force resisting system and lateral force resisting system. An appendix of spreadsheets is supplied to help supplement the calculations.

Technical Assignment 2 - 10.31.05
Executive Summary

In this report, the structural floor system was examined to determine if there are any viable alternative floor systems which could possibly provide a better fit for this building's layout. Four other floor systems were analyzed and the pros and cons of each system were compared to each other as well as the existing system to determine if each system was a viable alternative.

Technical Assignment 3 - 11.21.05
Executive Summary

Included in this report is a description of the lateral load resisting sytem and its layout within the building's floor plan. A breakdown of the distribution of the loads to each shear wall is analyzed in calculations to check the design of each shear wall. A discussion of the overall response of the members within the overall system is also included.
