Depth Work Study: Post-tensioned concrete redesign

A post-tensioned concrete slab redesign of the building will be studied. This redesign will include changing the steel building to cast-in-place concrete columns and shearwalls from its original steel design. The goal is to determine how much floor-depth can be saved.

Breadth Work Studies

Construction Management: A new schedule will be constructed of the tasks that need to be performed in constructing a post-tensioned concrete slab building. Additionally, simple cost comparisons will be made to determine if any cost savings will result from the redesign.

Mechanical: With the anticipated savings in floor depth, the ductwork routes do not have to be as rigid as they are in the current composite steel design. New ductwork routes will be established and, if possible, a new, smaller fan will be selected to enhance the energy efficiency of the air circulation system.
