Thesis Proposal
The Thesis Proposal details the redesign issues of the mechanical depth topics, as well as the lighting and acoustical breadth issues.
Executive Summary
The details of the proposed ideas for the replacement and improvement of the mechanical systems of the Hilton Hotel at BWI Airport are described. The ground and second floor redesign includes a parallel system using air-side and/or water-side equipment. The guest room tower redesign uses a run-around heat recovery system. Research will be done to improve indoor air quality issues. The redesign methods are described, and include some details on the software used during the system development. Breadth Summary
The bredth topics coverd in the Thesis Proposal incorporate areas that affect or are affected by the mechanical systems of the Hilton Hotel at BWI AIrport. The first breadth area to be studied is the lighting systems. The original design of incandescnent downlights in the meeting rooms will be replaced by compact fluorescent downlights. The other breadth area to be studied is acoustics. The effects of using fan coil units instead of water source heat pumps in all the guest rooms will be evaluated. Other topics covered include noise criteria of some critical spaces and the sound transmission class ratings of several interior wall constructions.
