Thesis Proposal
This thesis project will focus on altering the floor system of 'Erie on the Park' from an open-web steel joist system to a concrete flat plate system, and the lateral sysstem from braced frames to concrete shear walls. The effects on the overal cost, construction schedule, and serviceability will be investigated. The bulding will be modeled three dimensionally using ETabs Nonlinear.
Breadth Study
Breadth Topic 1
The first breadth topoc will investigate the construction mamagement concerns of altering the building's structural
system from steel to concrete. This includes the impact to the over all project cost, the construction schedule,
and general constructability concerns.
Breadth Topic 2
This breadth topoc will investigate what would be entailed in achieving LEED Certification. This would include
determining which of the 69 criteria would be more cost effective to achieve and investigating 3-4 of them in
greater detail to decern the impact on the building's cost and if there would be any constructability concerns.
