About Clement Fung

Clement Fung is currently a 5th year Architectural Engineering (A.E.) student who is specializing in architectural lighting/electrical design at The Pennsylvania State University. As he is in the integrated Bachelor and Master of Architectural Program, he will receive both degrees upon graduation in May 2007. At the same time, he will also receive his "Intern LC" and "Engineering in Training (E.I.T.)" status.
Although he had always been interested in pursuing a career in medicine since a young age, that all changed when he discovered the AE program at Penn State. His passion was confirmed. An innate fascination for both the arts and science led him to pursue to the lighting/electrical option in this field of study.
In pursuit of his new found interest, Clement decided to expand his understanding of this field, and sought to find ways outside the classroom environment to broaden his insight on architecture and lighting design. In the summer of 2005, he had an opportunity to study Architecture and Italian culture in Rome, Italy which not only equipped him with a minor in architecture but also a whole new perspective on design. Having lived in Hong Kong, Canada and the US, his unique cultural background has also helped enrich his design vocabulary.
The last two summers offered him valuable internship lighting design experience at Linbeck and Rausch Lighting Design, Hong Kong in 2005 and at Horton Lees Brodgen Lighting Design, San Francisco in 2006 where he assisted project teams in: conceptual design, the development of construction documentation, calculations, lighting-related research, mockups and project-team coordination. On the side he also assisted AE faculty members in the development of immersive virtual reality building prototypes.
Besides traveling, during his free time he also enjoys playing basketball, photography and hand-rendering landscapes, a technique he owes to his former art instructor who had previously taught at many prestigious art schools in China. Clement is also a student member of the Illumination Engineering Society (IES). After graduation, he aspires to contribute in a positve way at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP where he will begin work in July 2007. He also intends on taking his LEED accrediation exam soon after.
