This workshop presentation was a great source of reference for my industry research, specifically hispanic injury rates and current
"English-only" practices by construction companies.

In June 2005 Hensel Phelps Construction Company in partnership with Austin Commercial L.P. implemented a bilingual 40 hour
safety training in both English and Spanish, leading to high levels of success. I used the case study success rates as a reference for
my schedule acceleration.

Dr. Freihaut helped me sort out many of the issues I was having with my energy model for the ground source heat pump. He
directed me with my payback calculations as well.

Mr. Kovac is a representative from McQuay International, the manufacturer of the ground source heat pump for my thesis
building. He gave me advice for my calculations and assumptions regarding consumption and performance.

Professor Ling steered me away from complicated modeling software and gave me a great basis to focus my acoustical analysis. For
my Industry research, Professor Ling helped me with questions regarding changing the undergraduate curriculum, and what it
would take to do so.

Mr. Trujillo is the Hispanic/English-as-second-language Outreach coordinator for OSHA region III. He gave me some insight on the
OSHA stance on bilingual workforces, as well as feedback on my surveys.
Survey Research information
This research investigates the spanish-english language barrier as an issue with several innovative solutions.
Research will focus on construction professionals, construction workers of varying experience levels,
and construction
management students.
Construction Professional Survey
This survey targets professionals in the construction industry with 5 -10 years of field experience as well as experience working
with an English-as-Second-Language workforce. Answers are kept anonymous but asks for demographic information.
5th Year Penn State AE Student Survey
This survey specifically targets Penn State Construction Management Students in the 5th year. The questions relate to the BAE
and MAE curriculum, as well as internship experience in the past, especially experience with English-as-Second-Language
construction workers. Answers are kept anonymous.
Building Construction Student Survey
This survey targets Building Construction students from various University and programs. Universities include: Virgina Tech,
Georgia Tech, Purdue, and University of Maryland. Questions are more general to apply to the various programs. This survey also
went out to the 4th year Penn State AE CM's. Names were kept confidential.
