The Penn State Senior Capstone Project allowed investigating construction and design techniques centered on the Intramural Building Addition and Renovation project. Throughout the 2013 Fall Semester, an overall understanding of the project was performed by looking at architectural features such as building facade, MEP systems and the structural frame, while also investigating the construction aspects of the project such as estimates, schedules and constructability issues. The knowledge acquired during the first portion of the thesis allowed to be familiarized with the project to evaluate proposal ideas tackled during the 2014 Spring Semester. This allowed looking at four analyses that would reduce construction costs, accelerate schedule, and improve the overall construction process of the project. All of the information related to these analyses was compiled into a final report and presentation. This Senior Thesis was proved to be one of the most challenging and beneficial academic course which taught me how to manage time effectively, evaluate a project, and propose alternative methods for implementation to improve the overall quality of a project; definitively carried forward into my professional career.
