40 Under 40 Award
Established in 2020, the 40 Under 40 award recognizes numerous engineering alumni who are leaders in their profession, community, and involvement with Penn State. Each year, multiple young alumni will be selected to receive the award until the 40 Under 40 cohort is achieved. As members reach 40 years of age, they will be phased out of the cohort and replaced by new members.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the 40 Under 40 Award, nominees must have a Penn State degree in engineering and be under 40 years of age as of Jan. 1 in the year the award is given (i.e., a 2022 award nominee must be under 40 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2022).
Nomination
The College of Engineering accepts nominations from anyone within the Penn State community, including faculty, staff, and alumni. The nominator does not have to be associated with the College of Engineering. There is no limit to the number of entries each nominator can submit. For more information, contact Michelle Schafer at alumni@engr.psu.edu.
Selection
Awardees will be selected based on:
- Representation of Penn State’s core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, discovery, excellence, and community
- Commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with the college
- Success in professional experience and education, community service and involvement, and career and professional leadership
The selection committee includes, but is not limited to, academic deans, department heads, faculty, members of the Penn State Engineering Alumni Society, and the development council.
