TECHNICAL ASSIGNMENT 1 : Full Report / Executive Summary
This assignment is an overview of my existing building, Sallie Mae HQ. This project consists of a 9 story office building which has spans reaching over 50 ft. The building is a steel tower structure with concentric and eccentric braced frames that are concealed in the stairwells and the elevator walls. These main elements provide the lateral resistance of the building.
TECHNICAL ASSIGNMENT 2 : Full Report / Executive Summary
This assignment focuses on four alternative floor systems; which are primarily controlled by the long spans in Sallie Mae HQ. My four alternatives are post-tensioning, precast-prestressed double tee beams, long span joist, and an alternative layout to the original steel design. To decide which one is the best to consider for my proposal, I will have to consider cost, weight, constructability, potential conflicts, and vibration.
