Bio of Adam Weis
Adam Weis is an ambitious individual who is eager to get out into the world and get his hands dirty. He has spent the past five years of his college career studying architectural engineering at Penn State University’s main campus. He intends to graduate in the spring of 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering. In autumn of 2004, Adam spent his semester studying abroad at Leeds University in Leeds, England. He learned the value of his own education, as well as the importance of understanding different styles of teaching.
For the past three years Adam has worked for the Turner Construction Company. His first major industry experience occurred in the summer of 2003, where he took part in an externship (unpaid internship) at the $45 million IST building in State College, Pennsylvania. From this experience, Adam learned the basics of how things work on a construction site. The following summer he was hired full-time as an intern and worked in State College again, this time at a $76 Million housing project for upperclassmen. He learned how to post drawings, process punchlists and build communication skills with workers and staff. In the summer of 2005 Adam worked for Turner at a $30 million international airport project in Avoca, Pennsylvania. His duties included writing RFIs to the architect, evaluating DC files for accuracy and proper billing and compiling punchlists and completion lists to make sure tasks were progressing appropriately.
