Welcome to Caitlin Ferrell's AE Senior Thesis e-Portfolio
Caitlin grew up in a small town in Southern West Virginia where her family
owned businesses related to the construction industry. She decided to attend
the Pennsylvania State University studying Architecture, but soon decided
that a degree in Architectural Engineering would allow her to utilize her
talents more effectively. Caitlin will graduate in May 2006 with a Bachelor
of Architectural Engineering. Throughout her career at Penn State, Caitlin
has had several summer internships in architecture, management, and engineering.
She interned for ZMM Architects and Engineers, in Charleston, WV which focused
on public building design. Caitlin also interned for her family’s
excavating company, Ferrell Excavating, where she assisted in designing
several community projects including an addition for her church, and new
seating for Chief Logan State Park’s outdoor amphitheater. This past
summer, Caitlin interned at Atlantic Engineering Services, in Pittsburgh,
PA, where she worked on design and analysis of structures.
Caitlin is also involved in a wide variety of activities on campus. She is a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, the Student Society of Architectural Engineers, and is the Architectural Engineering representative for the student chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. Caitlin was also inducted into Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society in the Spring of 2004, and Phi Alpha Epsilon, the Architectural Engineering Honor Society in the Spring of 2005.
