Final Report

This report contains a structural description of the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center, a 17-story building located in Chicago, IL. The report compares the advantaged from sticking with the concrete framing and shear wall lateral support of the current system, to an alternate design of a steel frame with braced frames supporting lateral loading.

Also included in this report are breadth topics which directly influence the design decisions, specifically the building cost comparison of changing from an entirely concrete structural system, to a steel alternative. Other areas of study include a construction timeline estimate of each system and in order to gain a better understanding of the building's finished spaces a lighting scheme for each guest suite was created and modeled.

For now only a completed report is available, but in a couple of days each section will be broken down for easier consumption.
