Thesis Research

Research tools utilized within Philadelphia School District Administration Headquarters included using Trane's Trace program to simulate building systems.  Notes from previous classes (AE 454, 455, 557, 558) were used to aid in understanding different mechanical systems and to provided system calculations.  The ASHRAE handbooks (Fundamentals and Systems & Equipment) were used to find more specifiic information on the building mechanical systems used in my thesis project.  Various manufactures' websites were used to specify equipment and their interworkings.  Finally personal resources were consulted for building and system specific questions.  Mike Rush at Cannon Design was an excellent contact for information on the existing system, Bill Harrington from Turner helped by giving me a tour of the building, the Penn State AE faculty, especially Jae-Weon Jeong, were great with in-person help and explainations, Mike Schwartz from Kling was also a good resource for Trace help and other miscellaneous mechanical questions, and finally my classmates were always there and were great support throughout this whole process.
