Biographical Sketch
About me
Alvaro Zumaran is currently a 5th year senior at The Pennsylvania State University, where he is pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, with an emphasis in the construction management option. He studied abroad in Rome, Italy during the summer of 2004 where acquired a minor in architecture. During his stay in Italy, he traveled to different parts of the country and further developed his skills in design and aesthetics. In the summer of 2005, Alvaro was an intern for the Barton Malow Co. in Southfield, Michigan. This internship gave Alvaro a chance to experience the responsibilities of a superintendent by being put in charge of three different elementary school renovation projects and observing a high school addition project. The downtown Detroit YMCA is his senior thesis building. The architects for this project are the Smith Group and the construction manager is Barton Malow Co.
The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year-long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering.
