Technical Assignments

Proposal

Tech #1 looks at the existing lighting conditions. Four main spaces were evaluated for this assignment: theDining Room, the Lobby, the Multipurpose Room, and an Outdoor Space. Three-dimensional models were constructed of the spaces and using the existing lighting layout and luminaries, the illuminance values were generated to assess the existing lighting conditions. After developing design criteria, the existing conditions could be compared against the IESNA’s suggested illuminance values, as well as whether the spaces conformed to ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1 power density allowances for the selected spaces.

Tech #2 looks at the existing electrical distribution system of the Grand Oaks Addition. A calculation of the NEC building design load was performed to check the existing wire sizes and over current protection devices for the main feeders and distribution panles. To perform the calculations, the connected lighting, receptacle, and mechanical loads were considered and delt with accordingly. In addition, the utility rate structure was considered and is "GT LV" Time Metered General Service - Low Voltage Service Schedule.
