ECoRE Building

Engineering Collaborative Research and Education Building

The second major piece of the engineering expansion on West Campus, the Engineering Collaborative Research and Education Building (ECoRE) is Penn State’s largest academic building. It opened in 2024.

Across 290,000 square feet, ECoRE features research spaces, teaching labs, and administrative offices for four academic units: Aerospace Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Acoustics, and Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Along with nine general purpose classrooms, ECoRE is also home to the Center for Engineering Outreach and Inclusion, the Engineering Advising Center, and the Engineering Library.

From this spot at the center of West Campus—in nearly every direction you turn—you can see engineering in action: Leonhard Building to the south, EDI to the west, the Earth and Engineering Sciences Building, and now ECoRE to the north. All of them situated around this amazing open space: a tangible campus intersection uniting multiple engineering disciplines.”
