Portfolio

Jennifer Curley is currently in her fifth year of study in the Architectural Engineering program at Pennsylvania State University. She will graduate in May 2006 from the Illumination option of the Integrated BAE/MAE program.

Penn State’s Architectural Engineering program attracted Jennifer because it allowed her to combine her fascination for design with her skills in mathematical analysis. From the AE program Jennifer chose to concentrate in illumination design to explore the way light enhances architecture. She is also particularly interested in sustainable design and is excited to use her creativity to achieve exceptional lighting designs that are energy efficient.

Through internships Jennifer has experienced a broad range of Architectural Engineering disciplines. She spent her first three summers of college working with structural, civil, environmental, and electrical engineers, as well as landscape architects. Last summer Jennifer interned at Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design in Los Angeles where she vastly expanded her knowledge of lighting design while working closely with other designers.

Jennifer has taken advantage of Penn State’s study abroad program by studying at the University of Leeds in the UK for a semester. She also keeps busy serving as an Officer for the PSU IES student chapter and a member of the PSU Snowboard Club. In her spare time Jennifer also enjoys traveling, yoga, running and learning to play golf.
