Thesis Course Reflection

The one thing that is prevalent through my thesis experience is perseverance. Throughout my time in other classes at Penn State, engineering and other, each goal has been fairly short and individually simple steps. The difference here is that you are stuck doping one thing that takes a very extended period. This becomes a challenge especially when one step does not does as planned. Instead of being able to circumvent a small part of the project, you must find a way through, because the successful design of the building depends on it. In addition, through every part of the design, the rest of the aspects of the building must be taken into account, which is not normally part of an assignment. In conclusion, thesis has been an intense learning experience in the variety of things that have to be taken into account, which are not usually addressed when designing individual components.

CPEP / Discussion Board Reflection

I did not realize at the beginning of the year how integral the web site would be to the thesis process. Fortunately, the system was well set up so that it was manageable for those of us that have never tried to create a web site before. As I learned how to work everything, it became a very useful tool to present my information as well as get ideas and assignment clarifications for other students work. The discussion boards were even more useful. While, I didn't get a lot of information for my thesis from them, I did learn a lot of interesting facts from monitoring the topics that are presented and answered on the boards.
