Purpose:
The Shirley Hendrick Award recognizes a University employee whose visionary accomplishments have contributed significantly to foster and to increase Penn State’s efforts to serve the adult learner. The award is open to any University employees who
Demonstrates leadership, support, and advocacy for adult learners throughout the University community.
Champions strategic initiatives to integrate best practices for adult learners into the overall landscape of the University.
Encourages innovative activities to foster and inspire a culture of collaboration while improving access to adult learner programs and services.
Exemplifies the spirit of entrepreneurial and visionary leadership in creating new opportunities for adult learners to access Penn State programs.
Eligibility:
Champions the strategic development and delivery of outreach programs
Encourages a culture of academic freedom, innovation, and collaboration
Provides visionary leadership and communicates the importance of Outreach, internally and externally
Terms of Award:
recognition and a stipend of $1,000.

Letters of Support
After your nomination has been electronically submitted, you will receive a confirming e-mail with instructions on how to have other colleagues submit letters of support. Each nomination requires two letters of support. It is the responsibility of the nominator to solicit the support letters. Any nomination lacking at least two letters of support will be considered ineligible.
