About the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation
The A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation is committed to helping hard workers achieve. The foundation’s dedicated staff conduct thorough research to identify potential grantees, often working through their network of trusted community leaders and subject-matter experts. They then conduct a rigorous due diligence process to evaluate each grantee organization’s capacity to effectively steward their funds and produce measurable results from their investment. They seek out grantees that build practical and immediate connections between effort and opportunity in three focus areas.
- Engineering
- DC Initiatives
- Veterans Support
A. James Clark never forgot that his business success began with an engineering scholarship. As his company grew, so did his dedication to fostering the growth and development of tomorrow’s engineering leaders. Today, the Foundation continues Clark’s legacy of investing in engineering scholarship through support of engineering education at several colleges and universities. From improving facilities to recruiting the best faculty and students to expanding access to students who otherwise couldn’t afford an engineering degree, the Foundation invests to ensure that tomorrow’s engineers are equipped to help solve society’s toughest problems.
As part of its dedication to the engineers of the future, the Foundation established the A. James Clark Scholars Program. The Clark Scholars Program has been implemented at some of the nation’s top engineering institutions, financially supporting students of need who exhibit strong academic and leadership potential. Students enrolled in the program pursue a rigorous curriculum of engineering study, take at least one to two business classes, and participate in community service, along with leadership seminars and events with leaders in the field.
